Working with the studio

Four ways
to work with us.

Full residential design is the heart of the practice — but the studio also takes on single rooms, remote e-design packages, and a small number of commissioned originals each quarter. The scope is different. The standards aren't.

How a project unfolds

From first email
to last piece installed.

Every engagement follows roughly the same six-step rhythm — whether it's a single room or a full residence. Below is what to expect at each step.

  1. 01

    Inquire

A short form on the contact page — a few questions about the project, the home, and what's drawing you to the studio. Read by Alexandra personally.

  2. 02

    Conversation

If the brief feels right on both sides, we set up a 45-minute call. No fee. Comes back with whether the studio is the right fit, an honest read on scope, and what a working engagement could look like.

  3. 03

    Proposal

Written proposal with scope, timeline, deliverables, design fee, and an estimated furnishings budget range. Either signed and a deposit is sent, or the conversation ends warmly.

  4. 04

    Design

Programming, plans, sourcing, presentations. Two presentation rounds with revisions. Clients see drawings, fabrics, finishes, and a full furniture schedule before anything is ordered.

  5. 05

    Install

Procurement, deliveries managed by the studio, on-site direction during install week. Styling day at the end — every shelf, every surface, every wall.

  6. 06

    Handoff

Punch list, walk-through, care guide for finishes and upholstery, and a binder with every product, vendor and contact used on the project. The room is yours.

Frequently asked

The practical questions,
answered.

Where does the studio work? +
Primarily Greenville, Wilmington, the Main Line, and the Brandywine Valley. New York and Hudson Valley projects considered case by case. International clients welcome via the e-design package.
Do you work with our contractor or architect? +
Yes — and often early. The studio has a short list of trade partners (plasterers, millworkers, upholsterers) it works with on most projects, but is happy to coordinate with your existing team.
How are furnishings billed? +
At trade cost plus a transparent markup, shown on every line of every invoice. No hidden margins, no commissions from vendors. The studio's compensation is the design fee — the markup covers procurement, freight management, and receiving.
What's not included in a residential project? +
Architecture, structural work, landscape design, electrical or plumbing rough-in, and anything requiring a licensed trade. The studio coordinates with those teams but does not perform that work.
How far in advance should we reach out? +
For full residential projects: three to six months ahead of when you want design to start. Single-room and e-design have shorter lead times — usually four to eight weeks.
Can we buy the prints in the shop with our project? +
Of course. Existing print editions can be added to any project at standard pricing. Original commissions are billed separately under the Commissioned Painting service.
For the trade

Designers, architects,
and stagers welcome.

The studio's Trade program offers wholesale pricing on prints and originals, advance notice on edition drops, and access to the studio's product schedule. We work with a small list of vetted trade partners — applications are reviewed personally.

  • 30% off all print editions
  • 15% off original commissions
  • 48-hour advance access to every new drop
  • Net-30 terms on $5K+ orders
  • Spec sheets for trade publications
  • No minimums

sounds like your house —

Inquiries open year-round. The studio reviews submissions weekly and replies personally within five business days. Most fall projects book a season ahead, so the earlier the conversation starts, the better.
